BlogsNov 07, 2009Nothing new on Volchenkov
The Senators haven't had any serious contract talks with defenceman Anton Volchenkov.
Yes, they'd like him back. Yes, he'd like to stay. There hasn't been any progress in talks or any real discussions. None are scheduled. None are imminent. "We haven't really talked about anything serious," said Volchenkov's New York-based agent Jay Grossman Friday. "Someone sent me an internet rumour that were holding serious talks and I don't know where that came from. It's a total fabrication. It's not happening. I don't know where this stuff comes from." Volchenkov, sidelined with an elbow injury right now, is in a holding pattern. Ideally, he'd like to see how the Senators fare before making a decision on his future. Comments:

I wonder what kind of contract Volchenkov will demand? It would seem that Clouston must think that we Sens fans cannot distinguish the difference between awful and great performances; for him to suggest that Kovalev played very well last game is an insult to our intelligence. It is remarks like this that makes me question him. I don't know about everyone else but the players that really im pressed me last game was Spezza of course but, Michalek, Regin and Shannon skated miles and applied pressure all over the ice...if Shannon is relegated to sit for a ham and egger...again, I will have to question who is making the calls here and why?

Didn't Shannon log a lot of ice-time last game? Doesn't he kill penalties and doesn't he do spot duty on the point in the PP? Doesn't he want the puck and ineed carry the puck 200 feet...and isn't he extremely fast? If the answer is yes to these questions, then why was he out of the line-up? Did Ottawa ice their best available players last night...I will answer that one...NO! It is a running joke and no one in the media want to write or talk about it! Why Winchester in in the lineup over...anyone...is the question but it is taboo, I guess. Winchester got what, 2-3 shifts in the 1st and touched the puck once? This...makes the team stronger and more competitive? It would be remiss of me not to mention the acts of the clown Ruutu; first he feinted an injury to unsuccessfully draw a penalty (he is an embarrassment) and then got a dumb penalty to allow NJ to score. Lastly, I will make an observation...
L'artiste is Lamarde! Get used to him...he is here for another year after this one! Leave a comment:
