Vancouver after Sundin

The Vancouver Canucks are after Mats Sundin.
League sources told Sun Media the Canucks have offered the Toronto captain a two-year, $20 million deal.
Sundin hasn't decided on his future, but he's contemplating it.

Wow!

Sundin is an elite talent but that's a TON of money.

Bruce, any news on signings for Ottawa or potential movement of Jason Spezza? (A man can dream!)

We are having some Moosehead in your honour and in CeeJay's as well.

Salud!

Visitor,

Compared to the insane money being thrown around, it looks like the sens got Spezza for a chump change.

Why are so many people intent on getting rid of Spezza, the guy has a ton of talent and who would the Sens replace him with????
I think he's going to have a great season now that some of the bad apples he hung around with are gone and hopefully not replaced.
If Ottawa shopped Spezza there'd be teams lining up to deal.

The problem with Spezza is his immaturity, and lack of drive. He's not a kid with potential anymore, he's a man with years of NHL experience under his belt. It's time for him to grow up, actually come to play hard every day and take control of his career. Once he does that, he'll have a good shot at getting 110-120 points a season.

About Sundin......are all GMs required to drink a jug of stupid on June 30th? Sure, Sundin is a good presence in the dressing room and a nice 2nd liner on a good team, but there's no way a reasonable, intelligent person would pay more than 4 mill a season for that.

The Heatley/Spezza signings are right on the mark for todays league and both of these guys are still young.

Let's see how the World Championship experience motivates Spezza...I suspect he will have his best year in 2008/2009.
