The Dallas Stars may have won the series against the San Jose Sharks, but it has left them precious little energy to fight the well-oiled, fast-moving Detroit Red Wings juggernaut.
The Game 6 marathon that went into quadruple overtime — almost seven periods of hockey — left the Stars in the Western Conference final, but with about as much energy as a reporter trying to come up with a new angle on the Hillary-Obama story. The hockey game, at least, had an end point. The Democratic presidential nomination race, however, seems to have none in sight.
The Stars have looked out of their depth and off their game the entire series. They have been outclassed in talent,
but they have also been outworked, which is especially frustrating for Dallas fans who have watched this team hustle its way to the final four.
How dominant have the Red Wings been? The Detroit Free Press — affectionately known as The Freep —
gives us the breakdown, and it looks pretty grim if you’re a Texas hockey fan.
And how about goalie Chris Osgood? The aging veteran was thought to be lost at sea when he departed for the New York Islanders and later St. Louis a few years ago, but the 35-year-old is relegating The Dominator to the bench and has now tied the team record for playoff wins, with 47, with Hall of Famer Terry Sawchuk. Osgood has 65 playoff wins overall.
