When Yankees win, expect madness.

crowd

Times Square last night around midnight: helicopters flying above the scene, thousands of fans singing "Take me out to the ball game", hammering "Who's your Daddy", "27", "New York" and "Matsui", cars driving around with stereos spitting Jay-Z's Empire State of Mind and Foot Locker's employees jack jumping in front of the store with Yanks jerseys. It was Yankees madness. New Yorkers have waited nine years for a victory and they made sure to celebrate loud and proud.

Only a few Phillies fans dared to show up in Times Square where they received the "Phillie sucks" and "assholes" treatment. You can see in the video that the police quickly showed them the exit. I saw one Yankees fan arrested because he tried to remove some fan's Phillies cap.

club

My night ended at 1 OAK, a trendy club in Chelsea for the Yankees after party where you could bump into actors like Kurt Russell or Gossip Girl's hottie Chace Crawford. Waitresses were sporting jerseys...as dresses. The players started to show up in black SUVs around 2 a.m. Autograph seekers were at the door. When Derek Jeter (captain of the team) got in, the crowd went nuts. The DJ played for the 10th time of the night Empire State of Mind (the new New York anthem for sure) and Sinatra's New York, New York. Champagne was flowing and bengal lights were sparkling.
